Patriotic Patchwork Pillows: 3 Sewing Patterns ~
Join the designer to stitch up some festive, eye-catching patchwork patriotic pillows!
To make these patterns user-friendly for seamstresses around the world, all patterns include the measurements in Imperial and Metric. Tips on how to properly assemble and stuff the pillows are provided along with detailed cutting and sewing instructions for each of the pillows.
Project One, ‘Stars & Stripes Patchwork Pillow’, is a dramatic piece of home decor made using brightly-hued scraps of cotton, decorative machine-stitching, and star buttons. Vintage bicentennial fabrics are part of the patchwork, and the designer offers tips for other fabric options in case you do not have access to vintage bicentennial fabrics.
Project Two, ‘Old Glory Flag Pillow’ features a circle of thirteen buttons on a blue cotton block as a tribute to the original thirteen colonies of the United States. Strips of colorful cotton fabrics are used to create a primitive-style flag block. Vintage Bicentennial fabric was used for the pillow back.
Project Three, ‘Star Block Flag Pillow’ features a star applique block embellished with vintage buttons in the corner and a vibrant flag block to celebrate the American flag. Use your red, white, and blue scraps to make this modern-style pillow.
These pillows may be displayed from Memorial Day in May to Flag Day in June. They will brighten up your home decor from Independence Day in July and will act as a tribute of gratitude to our nation’s veterans for Veterans Day in November.
Over one hundred and twenty-five of June McCrary Jacobs’s original sewing, quilting, and stitchery designs have been published in books, magazines, and on sewing industry blogs in the United States and the United Kingdom in the past decade-plus.
